Experience
Rachel
Fourteen years as a professional dog walker, cat sitter, and pet sitter in Portsmouth means I have built up a solid base of experience providing these services.

I have continually built on my behavioural knowledge and this has led me to use only scientifically-backed, ethical, fear-free methods of animal handling and I have made sure that my colleagues at The Woof Pack share this kind ethos.

In addition to my professional experience with pets I was blessed to have two dogs of my own from rescue, both of whom were a bit socially-challenged(!) and who have both been a huge learning curve!
The skills I practised daily with my own dogs have been easily applied throughout my professional life and have been a huge asset.

Currently I am guardian to a mischief of rats (The Rat Pack) and a tortoise who all keep me busy and highly entertained.

In the past I have enjoyed keeping many characterful pets: guinea-pigs, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats and fish and welcome many of these animals into my home to board. I can also visit these pets as frequently as you choose while you are away.

Conspicuous by its absence from that list is a cat; I have never been owned by a cat and am unlikely to be in the future due to my very allergic husband!! It is only through my visiting service that I get to enjoy their company and quirks, so for a possibly quite over-indulgent cat visiting service, please do get in touch!

I’ve been walking dogs as a hobby since I was 12 years old and I joined The Woof Pack to turn it into a full-time career. Over the years I developed experience with a wide variety of dogs, with an even wider variety of personalities.

With a degree in psychology focused on animal behaviour, I aspire to be a positive, force-free dog trainer using ethical, science-based training techniques; in 2021 I started Darwin's Dog Training School, specialising in scentwork.

I have a passion for animals and have been a guardian to rescue dogs, cats and horses since I was little. I have two Spanish Mastins who are gentle giants and love both humans and dogs.
Prior to joining The Woof Pack I spent several years rehabilitating and rehoming neglected horses and donkeys with an enthusiasm towards ethical training and handling and now I am using this experience with smaller animals.
